INTERNATIONAL APPROVALS
ALBURY LABORATORIES - ENGLAND
Tests were carried out to evaluate the EPDM hose for the following;
a. Organoleptic and physical test b. Toxic metals test c. Cytotoxicity test d. Microbiological growth test
Conclusion: All control samples gave satisfactory and valid results. The samples of this material have been found to comply with the requirements of the U.K. Water Fittings Technical Committee.
Solar Installations Tests were carried out to evaluate Plumb-Ezy Flexibles fitted to solar installations. The fluid being used is glycol-ethylene, which may reach a temperature of 100° Celsius, with peaks of up to 140° Celsius. Aging tests were carried out also in comparison with hot water at 100° Celsius.
Conclusion: Aquaknect Flexibles are perfectly suitable for use under these very stringent conditions of operation.
Water Hammer
Aquaknect stainless steel braided flexible connectors reduce water hammer or at the very least (dependent on the application)
reduce the noise created by water hammer.
Acoustical Measurements Noise reduction using flexibles.
1. Testing of a tap in a rigid circuit resulted in a reading of 57dB. 2. Testing of the same tap fitted with a flexible resulted in reading of 43dB.
Conclusion: Flexible hoses reduce water noise by approximately 14dB. Other tests carried out on larger diameter flexible hoses showed that the longer the flex the larger the noise reduction achieved.
NEW ZEALAND DEPARTMENT OF SCIENTIFIC & INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH
Report 71TPA1008 October 1990. Water hose successfully handled water at 10.5 Bar (approx. 150PSI) for 150 hours whilst being maintained in an oven at 122.5 degree Celsius.
JAPAN FLEX
Government Certified Lab Negative Pressure Test.
To test whether or not the hose would collapse and cause blockage if negative pressure due to a water supply problem occurred. The end of the hose was placed in water then negative pressure using pump of 70cm Hg was applied.
Conclusion: Water was vigorously sucked up through the hose indicating that no collapse or blockage had occurred.
LLOYD'S OF GERMANY
Flame Resistance Tests (for Germany Merchant Navy)
Hoses of 10mm, 15mm, and 26mm diameter were subject to a pressure of 71PSI with water circulating at 80° Centigrade. They were kept in constant contact with a flame at 800° Centigrade for 30 minutes. The hoses were then subjected to raising the pressure to 142 PSI for two minutes without bursting.
NOTE: During this process the tightness of the hose must not be affected.
Conclusion: The basis of the hoses having passed this very stringent testing Lloyd's of Germany have approved the use of Aquaknect Flexible hoses for the inside and outside of machinery rooms of ships of the GL class. Cold and hot water/sea water and potable water can be passed through the hoses.
JAPAN FLEX
Government Certified Lab
Test on freezing water inside stainless steel flex. Sample hoses were filled with water and allowed to freeze at -20° Centigrade for 48 hours.
Conclusion: No distortion, cracking or other damage was found to occur.
